Parsha Terumah, Our Home is our "mishkan"!

Parsha Terumah

Our home as our "mishkan"!

Your face, LORD, I seek.    Psalm 27:8

In this week's Parsha we read about the commandment God gave Moses to build the Tabernacle and all the details. The purpose was so that He could dwell there with His people!! I love this parsha and those to follow in the book of Exodus as the Tabernacle is specified and detailed and a few parsha later, erected. God's desire is dwell with us!!

How far we have gone as a "world" by pushing out His presence. May we welcome Him into our lives in every aspect of our being!! May we seek His face!!

The Bread of the Presence in this parsha is the topic of this week's Challah-cast!  It includes the idea of thinking of our homes as a "mishkan" and of our selves as the place for Him to dwell!! *
Please enjoy it if you have the chance to watch and if this topic interests you:)) hope there might be anything that you learned from it or let me know  what you might like to see in them for future challah-casts!!

We invite Your presence,
 LORD!!

note:*this idea of our homes as a "mishkan" is  spoken about by the Jewish sages how our homes should be a small sanctuary for God to dwell, in Hebrew "mikdash me'at"

And on the table you shall set the bread of the Presence, to be before Me always.
Exodus 25:30

  1. Shabatt Shalom!

What the enemy means for evil the Lord turns around for good. Now the whole world is resting.

Your stove alarm got me. Ha ha...I had to pause the video because I thought it was my stove alarm.

Did you grow up practicing these traditions?

  2. Shabbat Shalom, Sandi!!
    Amen!!
Blessed by your comment this morning, and by your watching!!
Thank you for hearing "my quiet voice on a big internet" (I think that is your words?!).

That's funny about the stove alarm!! It did go off at a timely moment in the challah-cast!!

I didn't grow up practicing these traditions. I grew up in a "reform" Jewish family, and went to "reform" Hebrew school and synagogue and we celebrated the major Jewish holidays, but we didn't observe Shabbat. I started celebrating Shabbat from about 3 years ago, after I became a believer in Yeshua. I never thought oh, I am going to observe Shabbat, but it was by His lovingly asking me to one day!! --or rather you could say it was a commandment!!-- that I started to observe it!!! BTW, I started this blog from there, as I wanted to share my Shabbat journey and have it as a "diary!". as it was so new for me and I didn't know any family or friends at the time who observed Shabbat!! Thanks for coming along and for sharing in it !! To be continued....!!!♡

  3. I greatly enjoy looking at the video, but the sound is no good. I have to buy myself a new computer and I constantly put off the plan.

  4. Very important parsha as it mentions the social concept of Terumah (giving).
I like your idea of our home as the Mishkan ("the place for Him to dwell"). I even like the idea of God or a spark of God living within us.

    1. Thank you Duta. Yes, as you mention its importance I realize what a tiny 'drop" of understanding is what I am probably able to grasp!! Each year reading it again there is so much to learn! The idea of our home as a Mishkan comes from the Hebrew "Mikdash me'at", that our homes are a small sanctuary、 I found that so interesting and should really mention that is from the Hebrew concept from the Chazal. Best to you and enjoy these weeks readings about the Tabernacle!! ♡

  6. Dear Shayndel. I found the video helpful to my spiritual understanding. The sound is low, but I put my iPhone near to my ear, closed my eyes and listened to this precious message conveyed from the heart. The Holy Spirit has powerful ways of communicating. Praise the Lord! I like that everywhere in your home there is a reminder of the goodness of the Lord. I like your turquoise curtains. Shalom Shayndel. May the Lord bless you and keep you and may His face shine kindly upon you. ️

  7. Dear Linda, Thank you so much for such a beautiful and encouraging comment. I am touched by your listening like that and that the Holy Spirit communicated through it!! Praise the LORD!!

Sorry about the sound!! Duta also mentioned about the sound. I will try to see to it for the next one (sorry Duta if you see this, I thought it was your computer, but looks like its a technical thing on my "production" side!!)..

I receive the blessings and to you too, May the LORD bless you and keep you and give you His great Shalom!! ♡

    2. Thank you Shayndel. Prayer ministries worldwide have called for a National Day of fasting and prayer and this took place yesterday in the UK. We stand together in prayer at this time.
