Today`s Shabbat~ It`s all about Shalom!

Let the Shalom of Messiah rule in your hearts -- to this shalom you were surely called in one body.  Also be thankful.    Colossians 3:15

Shabbat Shalom friends.

Shalom.  Yes, that is the word for today! We read in this week`s Torah portion about Phineas, the grandson of the High Priest Aaron, who took matters in his own hands upon encountering an Israelite prince having sexual relations with a Midianite princess in front of the Tent of Meeting.  He took a spear and ran it right through both people together and killed them.

This was a zealous act by Phineas who saw that things were going too far and the people were practicing blatant idolatry and abomination againt God and His Torah.  After his act of violence, the plague that was set upon the people was stopped although already 24000 had died.

After this Phineas was given a B`rit Shalom by God, a Covenant of Peace and everlasting priesthood.  Although it was a violent act, it was pleasing to the LORD as he was acting in accordance with God`s heart for His people.

We read this and are reminded as the people of God to be zealous for the things of God and for the word of God.  Being careful not to be zealous for our own motives, but to be in alignment with God`s heart.

May the shalom that is beyond all understanding be with you and your family in Messiah Yeshua!

 Love ,

Shayndel๐Ÿ’•

  1. Yes, such a violent act on Phineas' part but it pleased God. This makes me all the more thankful for grace today and Jesus who is the Word. We in America celebrate the 4th of July, our nation's birthday today. Though our nation is in turmoil, I'm thankful for the peace of knowing the Son, Yeshua Hamashiach. Wishing you peace and hugs from Arizona, where the skies opened up over our dry, hot state and the rain drenched us! Hoping for more today!

    1. Thank you Mary for your comment and sharing. Happy 4th of July to you and your family. Amen, thankful for the peace in Yeshua that goes beyond all understanding. Praise the LORD that He sent down the much needed rain, agreeing with your prayer for more rain, and the spiritual rain as well to the nations. Shalom and hugs to you!❤️

  2. Peace be with you. We had Independence Day here yesterday. I attended our church picnic. A lot of people were there and all seemed happy to be there after the 15 month hiatus due to COVID. Hubby and I sat out in our backyard for three hours watching the neighbors and their guests shoot of fire works. We had part of our supper outside. Haven't done that in a long time. Peace and blessings to you and yours.

  4. I love the way you write the word Shalom. You even have it on a pillow!
I wasn't familiar with the story of Phineas. Well, something to make me think about. "to be in alignment with God's heart" - I like that.

  5. Yes, the scriptures are very instructive, and they are discerned spiritually as part of the teaching of God which brings us to acting physically upon the Word spoken to us as we grow in the Lord. Shalom to you in Y'shua.
