Aviv and Pesach! Hebrew words in a `Matzah-cast!!`

I hope you will be blessed by this `unleavened` Challah-cast!

Or rather, in this season, I can call it  a `Matzah-cast` as we begin to enter the time of Passover and Feast of Unleavened bread.

I hope you might  even learn a little Hebrew if it is new for you.  In any case, I think it will be the first time for many to see Hebrew words in `matzah`. It was new for me and I found them to be very beautiful and  remind us of the `humility` and fruits of the spirit that we are to embody in Messiah Yeshua.  There is a quality of unleavened bread that we can discover in this month of Aviv and as we experience anew the Deliverance that God has for each of us both personally and as a people in Him this Pesach.

As its time to clear out the hametz from our hearts and homes, replace the blog header with `unleavened` header, it only naturally follows that the Challah-casts too for this Springtime season leading  up to Passover will be `Unleavened`!! It is amazing how that just happens as we clear our hearts of hametz.  The Feast doesn`t officially start until this weekend, but somehow even the days leading up to it, to make a challah in the week before Passover feels so `puffy`!!

Blessings to all in this month of Deliverance, month of Springime, month of Yeshua!

 Chag Pesach Sameach!

First blossoms, Nisan, and buds!

This month shall mark for you the beginning of the months; it shall be the first of the months of the year for you.   Exodus 12:2

Every blossom tells a story, doesn`t it?!

I just found out that one of the meanings of Nisan, the first month on God`s calendar, is `bud`, or `blossom` from `nitzan` (link here to reference in Bible Hub)

as in the verse in Song of Songs ,

Blossoms appear in the land,

The time of singing has come.
הַנִּצָּנִים נִרְאוּ בָאָרֶץ, עֵת הַזָּמִיר הִגִּיעַ

That is the only place in all the Tanakh where that word occurs!

We just entered the month of Nisan this past Sunday.  It is an exciting time of springtime and Passover approaches.

The word Nisan may also come from the root word Nissim, which means Miracle and also means banner.

The original commandment by God was given to the children of Israel to observe the month of springtime, called Aviv.  Aviv means springtime.  The month became called Nisan from the time of the Babylonian exile.

Something spectacular we have noticed in God`s design of the seasons.  In Japan, Passover is always perfectly timed with the blossoming of the cherry trees. And first blossoms open just around Nisan 1 (I saw the first blossom today, Nisan 4)!

The glory of the LORD bursts forth in a canopy of pink (stay tuned!) as we celebrate this season of new life, rebirth and deliverance in Yeshua.

As the pink buds are ready to burst into bloom, may our hearts too be eager in anticipation as we clear out the `hametz` (leaven) from our hearts and homes, and celebrate under the `Chuppah` (canopy) of God`s everlasting Love.

PS A sweet personal story on the last photo.  This tree is in front of a spot where my husband and I sit in the mornings and have coffee and feed the sparrows! This is the first blossom we spotted there!!

Much love and happy Nisan, Chag Sameach Pesach!!

Love, Shayndel

💖

Get rid of the old hametz, so you may be a new batch, just as you are unleavened—for Messiah, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed.  Therefore let us celebrate the feast not with old hametz, the hametz of malice and wickedness, but with unleavened bread—the matzah of sincerity and truth.

A special Delivery, out of the box!

I got a special delivery, it was from my daughter and her school class from college.

I haven`t been able to see my daughter since over a year due to the restrictions on travel.     I also haven`t met my US family.  Thankfully we have the technology like Zoom and e-mail and we can stay connected.

For my daughters college class, they had planned from their 2nd year an exhibit ,  but because of not gathering or holding public events, they had to think out of the box if they were to do it.

And that is what they did!

They packed their exhibit in a box for `delivery` to send it .  The title of the project would translate something like `Lost child in Tokyo`.  They expressed the difficulty of this unusual stay at home year as well as the creative power that they found through the challenge.  They used crowd funding to ask people to support their project, and `sent` the exhibit by delivery to the supporters!

They are young college students who shared what it was like to see a huge metropolis of Tokyo completely shut down in what seemed an instant.  They took photos of empty spaces and places and showed us their view of Tokyo during this `shutdown`year.

I am sure we are many who are looking forward to seeing our family members who we haven`t seen in a long time.   I hope this post encourages you to think out of the box, and connect with those you love!!💖💖💖

From the Purim desk 2~Sending Purim

The Megilla of Esther in Japanese tucked into a Purim package to someone special!

Special Purim delivery!!

Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.  Esther 4:14

Late posting!  For the records!  May each day contain a world of Kingdom treasures to unpack for the generations to come!!xoxo Love Shayndel

Packed inside of Purim is a story of the Salvation of the Jewish people from the evil plans of their enemy, the hand of God in every detail, and even the instructions of how to celebrate  it thousands of years later!!  In Deuteronomy we told to never forget to blot out the name of Amalek forever!

When we open up the book of Esther we unpack and re-live Queen Esther`s boldness in the face of her people on the brink of perishing.  And see how we are called in our own lives for  times as we are in.  Her name that means `concealed` and her identity hidden until that time `for such a time as this`.  She brought her people to unity to come together to fast and seek God.  He reveals His divine appointments at all hours throughout the story, and His hand of Salvation. He is to be Praised!!

There is always so much pack in to the Purim boxes!!

And once they are sent out and the feast is over already we are on the way to the spring feasts and Passover.  It`s not too early to start clearing out the old hametz and make way for the new!

Taste and see that the LORD is good!

Have a blessed week to all! Shavu`a Tov!!

Love,

Shayndel

Ki Tisa Challah-cast- This Shabbat's for You!!

 Shabbat Shalom Dear Friends!

I am re-posting this Challah-Cast I made for this Shabbat last year.  When I watched it this year, the message seems just as timely! (though I see some new insights of course since we have had a year of 54 Shabbatot with fresh revelations since then!!) ... And its interesting because it was just at the very beginning of the Pandemic, and here we are in our homes one year later.  I hope there might be someone who watched it last year and had a revelation and got the `tap` on the shoulder from the Holy Spirit that I speak about in the upload!!  Sorry, I won`t give it away, its my hint to encourage you to watch!!

Much love and a springtime Challah to follah!!! (that`s  for `challah to follow!`).  Lol! Stay tuned. I love you!

PS not finished with Purim posts yet as well, but wanted to post this on time for this Shabbat

Shabbat Shalom!

Love,

Shayndel

From the Purim Desk 1~~Hamentashen Notes!

Taste and see how good the LORD is.
Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.
--Psalm 34:9

Your decrees are my eternal heritage:
they are my heart`s delight.   --Psalm 119:111

Happy Birthday Esther !

Did you know `Esther`s` name means `hidden`!!

Your choice of Sakura An (Cherry blossoms paste)  or Prune filling!

Cherry Blossoms Hamantashen, since 2017 on Challah and Cherry Blossoms, made in Japan with God`s love

from the Purim Desk of Shayndel!!

These days of Purim shall be observed at their proper time, as Mordecai the Jew--and now Queen Esther--has obligated them to do, and just as they have assumed for themselves and their descendants the obligation of the fasts with their lamentations.  And Esther`s ordinance validating these observances of Purim were recorded in a scroll.-the Book of Esther 9:31 &32

We celebrate Purim on the fourteenth and the fifteenth day of the Hebrew month of Adar.  The day I am writing these notes it is the  11th of Adar.

The same days on which the Jews enjoyed relief from their foes and the same month which had been transformed for them from one of grief and mourning to one of festive joy. --Esther 9:22a

God is said to be hidden in the Purim story and yet, as we read  on Purim in the book of Esther,  we find Him everywhere!   He is not hidden at all!!  His hand is upon everything, He seems so present there in every detail.  So my interpretation of the Hamantashen, with the delicious fillings inside, is that they speak of God and how He is the center of all things!   And the center of course of the center of all the events that are wrapped together in the Purim story.

These photos are from my in-home time of making as I was up to my ears in Hamentashen, and that is where I like to be on Purim!!  This year I also hosted an on-line Hamentashen bake!! We had participants from Malaysia, Australia, Japan, and the U.S. and respectively the fillings included Passion Fruit filling (Malaysia), Poppyseed (Australia) and Sakura (Cherry Blossoms paste!)(Japan).  Taste and see how good the LORD is!!

Just a funny story for the record is that the night before the Hamantashan bake, I was up late preparing and finally got to sleep hoping that I would be rested for the next day.  In the middle of the night the phone rang.  I couldn`t imagine!  But I did go at pick it up, it must have been 3 or 4 in the morning.  It was a woman from the Challah company in New York from whom I had ordered Hamantashen to send for my Dad!! She asked me to confirm his address as they couldn`t send to a P.O. box.  I almost got angry and wanted to say, don`t you know its the middle of the night in Japan?? But I stopped myself and realized of course she didn`t, and kept a tone of gratitude, how wonderful that she was delivering the Purim treats to my Dad so he could have them in time!!

When I returned to bed I realized there was the Hand of God, He wanted to show me that as I was so focused on sharing Purim with new friends in the nations here, He wanted me to know that He was also making sure Dad would be getting his!! Then a few days later I got another call from a delivery service checking on my daughters address! Again, it was God`s hand showing me that He was getting the Purim packages delivered to where they needed to go!!

That is why we love these hamantashen!! They speak of God's delicious-ness, His taste of everything that is good, His being the one who is in the center of our very story, of our very being. The one who everything we do is centered around.  The horn of our Salvation, the God of our Deliverance.  The one who is in the center of our hearts and who fashions our hearts.

So when you taste the treats of Purim this year, taste deeply, taste intimately, taste with all the senses how very, very , very good our God is!!

to be continued.... recipe: HERE

 Much Love Shayndel
