Blossoms and blessings in the light of evening

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, Who brings on evenings with His word, opens gates with wisdom, alters time periods with understanding, changes the seasons, and orders the stars in their heavenly constellations as He wills.  He creates day and night, removing light before darkness and darkness before light.  He causes day to pass and brings night, and separates between day and night--ADONAI Tz'vaot, is His Name.  May the living and enduring God continuously reign over us, for all eternity.  Blessed are You, LORD our God, who brings on evenings.

---evening prayer, Maariv, from the Art Scroll Siddur "Blessings of the Shema"

Blessed evening and morning to all, bless the LORD who brings on mornings and evenings with His word.

  1. Blossoms and blessings go indeed very well together; the words even start with the same letter 'b'.
God gives us both, and more, much more - in fact, all the beautiful things that happen in the universe created by Him.

  3. The hebrew word for blossom is 'pricha' , and for blessing 'bracha'; the last syllable of the two words is identical.

My mother's hebrew name was Bracha and in my funeral speech I said that she was a bracha (blessing) to her family. (May her noble soul rest in peace)!

    1. Thank you Duta. How beautiful, to hear your Mother's Hebrew name (Yes, May her noble soul rest in peace)!! Such a beautiful name and blessing to your family!! I love hearing also what you shared about "pricha" and "bracha" and that the last syllable is identical!! Of course I look for all connections and it excites me that is "cha" , you can imagine why I like that syllable!! Challah!♡
